Research Interests:

My research involves the study of polycystic kidney disease (PKD) in a novel transgenic mouse model called inversion of embryonic turning (inv). Mutations in the inv gene are responsible for PKD in inv/inv mice and infants with nephronophthisis type 2. Using 2-photon fluorescence microscopy and three-dimensional imaging software, my laboratory has characterized the complex renal morphology of these mice and is currently investigating the function of the inv gene product, inversin. Grant support is acknowledged from the NIH, National Kidney Foundation, Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and Clarian Health Values Fund.
