Many of our faculty members maintain laboratories and staff to perform both basic and clinical research projects. Often these studies are funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).  Other research is supported by groups like the National Cancer Institute or the American Heart Association.  Our researchers follow strict safety guidelines, protect patient confidentiality, and must meet standards imposed by the Federal Government, State Government, University Committees, and peer-review boards.
 
In addition to research done by our faculty members in their areas of personal interest, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers use of our resources and expertise in assisting other scientists in their research.
