Screen Service Request Form
Equipment Service Request Form
Assay guideline
- Please contact us when you plan the screening project. We’ll discuss assay adaptation for your target of interest, necessary controls, screening procedures and estimated cost.
- Screening experiments must be scheduled in advance. Instrument time and library compounds must be reserved at least a week in advance. Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- An account number should be provided and a service request form (see above links) should be filled out prior to any service.
- Only the staff members of the core facility are permitted to handle the compound libraries, and will perform compound transfer from the storage plates to the pre-assay plates. Screeners perform their own assays and provide their own supplies including assay plates (please consult us for the type of plates to use), all reagents and other consumables such as pipette tips, solution containers, etc. Training in operating liquid handling equipment and plate reader will be provided by the staff members.
- Screeners should re-order compounds for the secondary screen and all other follow-up experiments. For more information, please contact us.
- The core facility stores the original data on their hard drives during the screening period. Data analysis on those data will also be provided by the core. A database is to be built in the core to manage all data. Screeners may transfer some of their data to their own devices for record and further analysis.
Cost structure
- The Chemical Genomics Core Facility is not for profit. We provide services concerning small molecule screening to the academic community within Indiana University. Screeners will provide personnel to conduct the screen, as well as their own reagents. In order to sustain the operation of the facility, a cost recovery measure were established with a price schedule in effect starting July 17, 2007.
Publication
- Inclusion of the core members as authors in publications should be considered when and only when their contribution exceeds technical expertise and support.
Acknowledgements
- When publishing results obtained at the facility, please acknowledge the Chemical Genomics Core Facility and let us know. If you plan to write a grant or a paper including the screening you plan to perform at our facility, please also let us know. We need to keep records of these. Such records are important for securing funding to support the facility. Currently all our services are free, and even when they are charged in the future, recharge does not cover the entire cost of running a screen and maintaining the facility. Please help us to keep the costs to users as low as possible.
