Curriculum

In the realm of a rapidly changing healthcare environment, medical education also is evolving. The IU School of Medicine was among the first of a growing number of schools that have adopted a competency-based curriculum to help students grow to become better physicians. The curriculum provides students with excellent clinical training balanced by the development of strong interpersonal and professional skills. As part of the regular curriculum, students are instructed in nine competency areas designed to enhance their ability to practice medicine. Students must master these skills at three levels to graduate.
