The Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) is dedicated to all 3 academic missions: service, teaching, and research. The AMPATH Research Program is multi-disciplinary endeavor. In addition to Indiana and Moi Universities, there are active, ongoing collaborations with investigators from Brown, Yale, Columbia, UCSF, Duke, George Washington, Purdue, Stanford, and NYU along with the Universities of Toronto, Washington, Missouri, and North Carolina. Extramural funding for the program has expanded dramatically in the last 3-4 years. The program has received a total of $75,935,714 in direct costs in research grants and all take advantage of the eHealth infrastructure in Eldoret to identify patients for prospective research projects (including clinical trials),provide clinical data, store study data, or perform retrospective epidemiologic studies.
